9-11 A day that we will remember forever. This painting is awesome as it brings to the surface the emotions we felt that day. The clouds of smoke, ashes and destruction are so life-like. Look closely and you'll see a golden cross. The artist, who was born in Brooklyn, uses the symbol of the cross to show hope even amongst the destruction. For those that are familiar with the Twin Towers area you know that there was a church left standing - St. Paul's. It's steeple is seen amidst the devastation with the golden cross on top. "Hope among ruin" would be another good title of this original painting. Notice also the teardrops. The longer you look at the painting the more meaning you draw from it. The colors are drab and hopeless - and the cross is a ray of sunshine with the golden color. The size of this painting adds to the statement it makes. The artist is Judy Mandel. Dimensions: 24" x 30"
