Do you know what a sixpence is? I'll tell you :-) In the UK one pound is divided into 100 pence just like one dollar in the USA is divided into 100 pennies. However, before Decimal Day in 1971 the value of the pound had been divided by 240 pence. This sixpence coin remained in circulation until 1980 at which time it had a value of 2-1/2 pence. If you enlarge the photo, you can see the crown near the top of the coin and SIXPENCE along the bottom. Each of these historical coins is encased in a metal housing that is goldplated. These English Sixpence cuff links are circular in shape. Diameter: 7/8" in diameter.
