In 1948 the lightship keepers moored on Nantucket Sound originally wove the Nantucket Lightship Handbag, which has become the classic symbol of Nantucket Island. These intricately woven baskets were adopted by the women of the island as hand baskets and then adorned with ivory engravings and carvings. This unique reproduction handbag captures the beauty of the original Lightship Basket and is decorated with the exquisitely detailed engraving of a Bull and a Bear. It has a 3-year guarantee.
